For Clinton Kelly, he doesn’t believe a Friday has actually begun until there’s a cocktail in his hand. While sharing some tasty Friday night treats on The Chew, he whipped up a Booze Blackberry Blitz. Perhaps the best part of this cocktail, other than the fresh blackberries, is the homemade mint simple syrup! The Chew: Boozy Blackberry Blitz Recipe

Clinton Kelly celebrated Friday with a Boozy Blackberry Blitz: a cocktail exploding with fresh blackberries. (quinndombrowski / Flickr)

  • 1 wedge lemon
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz seltzer (optional)
  • 1/4 C fresh blackberries + more to garnish
  • 1 tsp mint simple syrup
  • 1/2 bunch mint – to garnish
  • ice – crushed, to serve

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

  • 1 C water
  • 1 C sugar
  • 4 spirgs mint

The Chew: Boozy Blackberry Blitz Recipe Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add fresh blackberries, mint simple syrup, and a lemon wedge
  2. Add in the whisk and ice
  3. Close the shaker and shake
  4. Strain the cocktail into a glass with crushed ice
  5. Top with seltzer, if desired
  6. Add a few mint leaves and 3 blackberries to a skewer to garnish

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

  1. In a small pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil
  2. Remove from the heat, then add the mint
  3. Let sit until cool
