The Chew: Cheesy Crab Toasts Recipe

The Chew: Cheesy Crab Toasts

After Clinton Kelly and Scandal‘s Bellamy Young whipped up a batch of Buffalo Cauliflower, Michael Symon had a delicious treat to share. Michael Symon saw a viral video dedicated entirely to melted cheese, that had more than 500,000 views. He was inspired to use melted cheese in a dish, also inspired by a classic tuna melt. Instead of tuna, he used delicious crab, and created Cheesy Crab Toasts. These toasts work great as an appetizer, lunch, or dinner! Melted cheese makes any dish that much better, so it’s not too surprising that this recipe is incredibly delicious.

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 lb jumbo lump crab meat – picked through to pick out the shells
  • 1 tbsp chives – finely chopped
  • 6 slices pullman loaf bread – 1/2-inch thick slices, toasted
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1 lemon – zested
  • 1 stalk celery – sliced thin
  • 1/2 lb raclette cheese – rind removed
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

The Chew: Cheesy Crab Toasts Recipe Directions

  1. In a nonstick pan, add the spices, butter, lemon zest, and mustard, then put over medium heat to let the butter melt
  2. In a large bowl, add celery, crab, pinch of salt and pepper, and chives
  3. Pour over the melted butter mixture, then carefully fold to mix, but avoid breaking up the crab meat too much
  4. Top the toast with a scoop of the warm crab mixture
  5. Meanwhile, add the raclette cheese to a skillet, then put over medium-low heat until melted
  6. Pour the melted cheese over each piece of crab toast
