The Chew: Kell-Basa In A Blanket
The hosts of The Chew couldn’t throw a cocktail party without inviting Kelly Rowland! The Chasing Destiny star loves drinks and cocktails, but you’d never know it by how great she looks! Michael Symon was inspired to make his version of pigs in a blanket, which he nicknamed Kell-Basa in Blanket because of his special guest! He took the delicious sausage and wrapped it in puff pastry with other flavors to create an incredibly flavorful appetizer to serve at a cocktail party!

The Chew: Kell-Basa In A Blanket Recipe Ingredients

- 1/2 C sauerkraut – drained
- 1 egg – beaten with 1 tsp water
- 1 jar hot German mustard – to serve
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 lb smoked kielbasa – about 1 1/2-inches in diameter, cut into 2 11-inch pieces
- 2 tsp caraway seeds
The Chew: Kell-Basa In A Blanket Recipe Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the pastry to an 11-inch square
- Cut the pastry in half to make two 5 1/2-inch by 11-inch strips
- Use a clean kitchen towel to squeeze excess moisture out of the sauerkraut
- Add 1/4 C sauerkraut to each pastry strip, then spread it evenly down the middle
- Top each with a piece of kielbasa
- Roll the pastry tightly around the filling, then crimp the seam and tuck in the ends
- Put the stuffed pastries, seam-side-down, on the prepared sheet tray
- Brush the pastry with egg wash, then sprinkle with an even amount of caraway seeds
- Bake, uncovered, for about 35 minutes, until golden brown and crispy
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes
- Use a serrated knife to slice into 1-inch pieces
- Place on a serving platter and serve with hot German mustard
