While talking about trendy treats, Daphne Oz wanted to share a recipe for homemade Stuffed Soft Pretzels. Because she thought street soft pretzels always seem to be a little more disappointing than expected, she found a way to make delicious ones at home. You can make either a Mediterranean version, cinnamon-sugar version, or Pepperoni version. All three are certainly equally delicious, and if you have varying taste buds to satisfy in your home, this could be the perfect way to go! Not to mention, it’s a great way to let your family customize their own stuffed soft pretzels to their liking!

The Chew: Stuffed Soft Pretzel Party Recipe Ingredients

Daphne Oz shared a fun and flavorful recipe for stuffed soft pretzels three different ways. (bochalla / Flickr)
For the Pretzel:
- 1 lb store-bought whole wheat pizza dough
For the Mediterranean Pretzel:
- 1/2 shallot – finely chopped
- 1/2 C feta
- flaky sea salt – to garnish
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz baby spinach
- 1/2 C mozzarella cheese – shredded
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds – to garnish
For the Cinnamon Sugar:
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon – divided
- 2 oz cream cheese – softened
- 3 tbsp butter – at room temperature
- 1/4 C + 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 C walnuts – toasted, chopped
For the Pepperoni:
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- marinara sauce – for dipping
- 1/2 C mozzarella
- 4 oz pepperoni – divided
The Chew: Stuffed Soft Pretzel Party Recipe Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees
- Line a baking sheet with foil, then grease with olive oil
For the Mediterranean Pretzel:
- In a large saute pan, add 2 tbsp olive oil and heat over medium-high
- Add the shallot and cook until slightly tender, about 3 minutes
- Add the spinach and cook until wilted, about 3 minutes
- Season with salt and pepper
- Remove the mixture to a bowl, then let it cool to room temperature
- Roll the pizza dough until it’s a 9×14-inch rectangle
- Cut the dough lengthwise into 3-inch wide strips
- Stretch the dough to about 14-16 inches long
- Sprinkle with an even amount of feta and mozzarella cheese
- Top with the spinach mixture
- Roll the dough up like a jelly roll to make a long tube
- Punch the seams together and fold the ends under
- Lift the dough up by both ends, twisting the ends around each other to make the shape of a pretzel
- Put the pretzel on a baking sheet, then brush with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and sesame seeds
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese has melted
For the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel:
- In a small bowl, add 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 2 tbsp sugar, then mix
- In a medium bowl, add cream cheese, the rest of the cinnamon and sugar then mix
- Put the cream cheese in a pastry bag
- On the strip of pizza dough, pipe the cream cheese down the middle
- Top with walnuts, then roll to make a long tube
- Lift the dough up by both ends, twisting the ends around each other to make a pretzel
- Put on a baking sheet and brush the dough with the melted butter, then add a dash on cinnamon sugar
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown
- Let cool slightly, then serve
For the Pepperoni Pretzel:
- On the strip of pizza dough, sprinkle an even amount of mozzarella cheese, then add dried oregano and top with half the pepperoni
- Roll the dough to make a long tube
- Lift the dough by both ends, twisting the ends around each other to make a pretzel
- Put on a baking sheet with the rest of the pepperoni slices
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese has melted
- Let cool slightly then serve with marinara sauce
