Dr Ian’s cookbook contains 30 recipes just for smoothies. He tested many of them out on his kids, and he thinks it is a great way to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your daily routine. “That’s the beauty of smoothies: you just can’t taste a lot of the ingredients you think you would not like,” Dr Smith said. Ingredients
- 1/2 cup frozen Raspberries
- 1/2 cup low-fat Raspberry Yogurt
- 1/2 tsp Flaxseed Oil
- 1/2 peeled, sliced Banana
- 1/2 cup Apple Juice (not from concentrate)
Directions
- Combine ingredients in the blender.
- Puree to your preferred consistency.
- Drink immediately.

The Talk: Dr Ian Smith’s Black-Eyed Pea Salad Recipe Ingredients
This recipe was inspired by Dr Ian’s uncle’s family recipe, which is rich in fiber and non-animal protein.
- 1/8 cup Vinegar
- 2 or 3 trimmed, chopped Scallions
- 1 chopped Yellow Onion
- 1/2 cup chopped Green Pepper
- 1 tbsp chopped Chives
- 1 cup chopped Cucumber
- Juice of 1/2 Lemon
- 1 pinch of Sugar
- 1 16-oz can drained, rinsed Black-Eyed Peas
- 3 or 4 tbsp chopped Flat-Leaf Parsley
- 1/2 cup chopped Red Pepper
- 1 tbsp chopped Red Onion
- 1 cup chopped Tomato
- 1 cup chopped Celery
- shredded Lettuce
- 1/2 cup Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper

Dr Ian Smith: The Talk Black-Eyed Pea Salad Recipe Directions
- Toss olive oil with vinegar, lemon juice, and sugar. Whisk to form a thick dressing; salt and pepper.
- Whisk remaining salad ingredients in a serving bowl (except lettuce). Toss well.
- Drizzle dressing over the salad, tossing to coat. Let rest 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper just before serving over a bed of lettuce.
