Buddy Valastro: Rachael Ray Strawberry Toaster Pastry Recipe Directions
- Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees
- Line the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper
- Lightly flour a work surface and unroll the pie crusts
- Lightly flour the rolling pin, then roll over the crusts a few times to smooth and stretch the dough
- Cut each round of dough into 12 2-inch by 3-inch rectangles, throwing away the rounded pieces of dough leftover
- Transfer ix of the rectangles to a baking sheet, then fill with 1 1/2 tsp of the strawberry jam
- Carefully spread the jam using the back of a spoon or rubber spatula, leaving a small border around the edges of the dough
- Beat the eggs in a small bowl, then add about 1 tbsp water
- Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg, then top with another sheet of dough
- Press down along the edges using the tines of a fork to seal
- Bake until light golden brown and flaky, about 12-14 minutes
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly
- Meanwhile, put the confectioners’ sugar, the vanilla extract, a small pinch of salt, and 3 tsp water in a small bowl, then stir
- Drizzle the glaze onto the pastries, then top with some sprinkles
