His Teriyaki Chicken Pizza is surprisingly simple in terms of ingredients, but he found a way to make it seem like an over-the-top at-home luxury! Naturally, he had to show off a bit when making the crust, going as far as to toss it up in the air, but he was just having a little fun! Don’t worry, he used store-bought pizza dough for this recipe, so don’t feel like you have to start completely from scratch!

  • 2 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sweet rice wine
  • 12 oz fresh pizza dough
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese – shredded
  • 1/2 large carrot – cut into matchstick-size sticks
  • 1 green onion – sliced thin diagonally
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds – toasted
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil – divided
  • 2 tsp minced, peeled fresh ginger
  • flour – for dusting
  • 8 oz boneless, skinless chicken thighs – trimmed
  • 1/4 C fresh bean sprouts
  • 1/3 C lightly packed fresh cilantro leaves

  1. Position a rack in the bottom of the oven and preheat to 500 degrees
  2. In a bowl, whisk the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet rice wine, 1 1/2 tsp oil, and ginger
  3. Set the sauce aside
  4. Lightly coat a 12-inch pizza pan with 1/2 tsp oil
  5. Stretch out the dough to cover the entire pan
  6. Rub the last teaspoon of oil over the dough, then cover with cheese
  7. Bake for about 12 minutes, until the crust is crispy and the cheese is golden
  8. Meanwhile, preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat
  9. In a bowl, toss the chicken with 2 tbsp of the teriyaki sauce to coat
  10. Grill the chicken, turning halfway, for about 8 mins, until cooked through and slightly charred
  11. Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and cut into bite-size pieces
  12. Top the pizza with carrots, chicken, green onions, and bean sprouts
  13. Drizzle the rest of the teriyaki sauce over the pizza
  14. Add the cilantro and sesame seeds
  15. Cut into wedges and serve
