The Chew: Black Bean Quinoa Burger

The Chew: Black Bean Quinoa Burger Recipe Ingredients

- 1/4 C quinoa
- 2/3 C almond meal
- 3 tbsp onion – minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp hot pepper sauce
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 can black beans – rinsed, drained, 15 oz
- 1/2 C water
- 1/4 C yellow bell pepper – seeded, minced
- 2 clove garlic – minced
- 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 large egg
- bibb lettuce – to serve
The Chew: Black Bean Quinoa Burger Recipe Directions
- In a saucepan, add the quinoa and water, and bring to a boil
- Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until the water has been absorbed, about 15-20 minutes
- Fluff with a fork
- In a mediu bowl, add the black beans and mash, using a fork, leaving some of the black beans whole
- In a large bowl, add the quinoa, almond meal, onion, bell pepper, cumin, salt, eggs, and hot pepper sauce, then mix
- Add the black bean mixture and mix
- Form the mixture into 5 patties
- In a large skillet, add olive oil and heat over medium-high heat
- Add the patties and cook until browned and warm, about 2-3 minutes per side
- Serve the black bean quinoa burgers in lettuce wraps
